My initial thoughts on the Ravens backfield in 2020 was that Mark Ingram was going to be the workhorse back. JK Dobbins would have a secondary role but really take over in year two. That’s not going to be the case. John Harbaugh has told team reporters that Dobbins is going to get a significant number of touches as a rookie.
“Confidence plus coachability plus talent, that’s a pretty good combination and he’s got all of that,” Harbaugh said of Dobbins.
Maybe that’s coach speak. Maybe John Harbaugh is just pumping confidence in his rookie. I don’t think this is either of those. The camp reports on Dobbins have been incredible from everything I’ve read. Dobbins has done nothing except dominate in practice. Dobbins has been nothing except incredible in practice.
I love JK Dobbins the player. I can’t believe the Ravens got him so late in the second round. To add insult to injury, somehow the Ravens snagged Dobbins for the bum that is Hayden Hurst. You want to talk about a draft day break? Dobbins was the 4th running back taken this year.
I loved Dobbins as a prospect. This is a guy who passed Ezekiel Elliott on the all-time rushing yard list at Ohio State. Dobbins rushed for over 2,000 yards this past year while averaging over 6.7 yards per carry. I think the dude is going to be a monster. It sounds like we’re going to see it sooner rather than later. He’s going to be a workhorse back for a long time. The dude is a freight train and Baltimore is thrilled to have him.
