Jevon Carter has signed a three-year, $20 million deal with the Chicago Bulls, ESPN insider Adrian Wojnarowski was first to report Friday.

The Bulls will use part of their $12.4 million non-taxpayer mid-level exception for Carter and are still $9 million below the luxury tax, according to NBC Sports Chicago’s K.C. Johnson.
The Carter signing will come from part of the Bulls' MLE, which, as @BobbyMarks42 notes, hard caps the Bulls. They are roughly $9M below the projected $165M luxury tax line and $15-16M below the first apron.

Carter, 27, is coming off a career year with the Milwaukee Bucks, where he averaged 8.0 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists, shooting 42.3 percent from the floor, 42.1 percent from 3-point range (2.8 attempts) and 81.6 percent from the free-throw line in 81 games.
The Bulls will be Carter’s fifth team in six seasons, having spent time with the Memphis Grizzlies, Phoenix Suns, Brooklyn Nets and Bucks. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound guard has developed into a very confident long-range shooter and is very physical at the point-of-attack, despite his lack of size.
Chicago was one of the league’s best defenses after the All-Star break, but was dead-last in 3-point makes (10.4) and attempts (28.8) per 100 possessions, despite being the 16th-most efficient 3-point shooting team at 36.1 percent.
Carter helps mitigate the defensive loss of Lonzo Ball, who is not expected to play this upcoming season after undergoing yet another knee surgery in March; Ball has not appeared in a game since Jan. 22, 2022. He joins Coby White–who inked a three-year, $40 million deal Friday–along with Alex Caruso, DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine in the backcourt.
Carter might not move the needle as a creator, but he won’t be tasked with doing that. Can his defense and 3-point shooting elevate the Bulls? Let us know in the comments below!
