Well… well… well… it looks like I may have been on to something. Not too long ago, I wrote a blog about the Barstool Pro Football Football Show because it was clear something was off. No, I wasn’t even referring to the goofy ass name of the show. I was referring to the fact that Deion Sanders either had no buzz or didn’t fit in at all when surrounded on a show Dave Portnoy and Big Cat. It feels like only a matter of time before Jersey Jerry is the new full time analyst on that panel.
Last week, Jersey Jerry replaced Deion on the set and the PFFS received a substantial increase in viewership. If you go to the Barstool Sportsbook YouTube page, Jersey Jerry’s episode received approximately 35 thousand more views than the last episode Deion was on. It’s still well short of Barstool Sports Advisors because it’s still a big jump nevertheless.
We know the book on Portnoy and Big Cat. They thrive best with a crazy third wheel such as Stu Feiner and Rico Bosco. Deion comes across as neither. Deion’s football opinions come across as odd and make you question whether he actually knows football. The issue is he’s not crazy enough to pull off the part where it becomes funny or entertaining. The PFFS also does not use spreads and makes it come across that Deion has no idea how the gambling world functions.
Jersey Jerry is on the rise. He has a big fight coming up against Jeff Nadu and has become a loveable Barstool goofball quickly. This isn’t to say that Deion can’t thrive at Barstool. The reality is, he’s not a good fit next to Portnoy and Big Cat. It feels like those two don’t have real entertaining conversations with Deion because they’re just happy to have him be a part of the company. It’s not hard to see.
It wouldn’t be shocking to see some sort of an announcement quickly implementing Jersey Jerry as the full time third wheel on the PFFS.
