The number one-ranked player in the 2024 recruiting class has finally made his decision. His name is Jeremiah Smith and he has announced that he will hold firm in his commitment to Ohio State. Smith will follow in the long line of talented receivers to suit up to play for the Buckeyes.
247 Sports has been all over this as they usually are. Today is signing day and were able to capture the footage of the official commitment.
Ohio State has long been rumored to be the landing spot here. Smith was committed to the Buckeyes, but you never know until the paperwork is officially signed. Well, in this case, it’s now done. Very much unlike what happened with Dylan Raiola flipping from Georgia to Nebraska.
Miami appeared to have been the other serious player here. If it were an offensive lineman, maybe the meathead Mario would have pulled this off. Cristobal certainly has proven that he can land line of scrimmage players on both sides of the ball. Not so much for a speedy wide receiver that needs the ball.
It’s not really surprising Ohio State landed Smith. Has any program developed better receivers over the last five or so years? Brian Hartline has those guys rolling there. Chris Olave, Garrett Wilson, Marvin Harrison Jr. The list goes on and on. Smith is next in line and will do damage next year opposite of rising sophomore Carnell Tate. That’s going to be a hell of a duo for the coming years.
