It’s time to talk about the best cornerback in the 2020 NFL Draft, Jeff Okudah. Ohio State has been a factory for defensive backs at the NFL level. If Okudah turns into anything like Denzel Ward or Marshon Lattimore at the next level, the team that drafts him will be very happy. Let’s go over the Jeff Okudah 2020 NFL Draft Profile.
Let’s just get this out of the way Jeff Okudah is just a baller. There is no other way to say it. The Buckeyes corner was not called for a penalty this year. No, that’s not a joke. Since 2017, QBs have completed 41.6 percent of their throws when targetting Okudah in coverage. That’s the lowest rate of an CB in the country. Okudah has never allowed his opposing receiver to go for more than 50 yards in a game. NEVER.
Okudah had a great 2019 season that included 3 interceptions and 9 pass deflections. There became a point where teams stopped throwing the ball in his direction and starting attacking Damon Arnette. It didn’t go so well because Arnette is damn good in his own right. There’s no other way to say it. Jeff Okudah is a rockstar.
Okudah has just dominated since stepping on the field at Ohio State. During his career, Okudah has allowed a passer rating of 55.6. His production isn’t surprising. He was the number one cornerback recruit in the country coming out of High School. The man just has everything.
In terms of measurables, Okudah stacks up with what you want. 6-foot-1, 205, and over 32-inch arms. All of the height, weight, and speed boxes get checked. Okudah is also a strong tackler with 34 on the season. He’s not one of those poor tackling corners. Okudah is unbelievable in that aspect. Not to mention, 4.48 speed and a 41 inch vertical will certainly do.
I’m not just trying to blow smoke up his ass. I’m as honest as it gets. When you’re trying to digest the pros and cons, the pro list seems like it never ends. Okudah has great length and recovery speed. He’s also great at the catch point and never allows big plays. Jeff Okudah dominated in the press man system at Ohio State. Okudah completely took Justyn Ross out of the game in the National Semi-Final.
At the end of the day, Okudah is a great cornerback prospect. There is no other way to slice it. When it comes to the 2020 NFL Draft, the team that picks Jeff Okudah is getting a star.
