Jeff Bezos, Jay-Z Interested in buying Washington Commanders

The Washington Commanders have been a poverty organization for years. The news that Dan Snyder will sell the team gives the fans hope, and their potential buyers shoot this excitement to the moon. Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and rapper Jay-Z are interested in buying the team according to TMZ Sports. Their partnership would be one of the biggest and most bizarre purchases of a sports team in history.

The process of trying to get rid of Snyder has been a long one. Multiple investigations have been done on the Commanders and their workplace environment. It’s the whole reason Jon Gruden got canceled, yet Snyder remains free. Colts owner Jim Irsay was the first to speak up, saying he believes there’s enough reason to remove him as owner and from the NFL.

But things are looking up for Commander fans. Bezos is obviously filthy rich with his $114 billion net worth. He owns the Washington Post, which already makes him familiar with the area. Can’t forget about Amazon Prime either, which is the new home for Thursday Night Football.

Well-known rapper Jay-Z is worth $1.3 billion. Besides the music, Jay-Z has a pretty good sports foundation. He’s the founder of Roc Nation, a full-service entertainment company that’s inclusive of artists and athletes. Saquon Barkley, Dez Bryant, Leonard Fournette, and Todd Gurley are some of the many athletes represented by Roc Nation.

Bezos and Jay-Z can instantly change the culture around this franchise. The first thing they should focus on is that god-awful stadium. They had the second-worst gate revenue in 2021, only better than the Detroit Lions. The city of Washington D.C. is such a big market for sports, in fact, they’re the ninth largest market in all of sports. Yet, they’ve been second to last in gate and ticket revenue.

Let’s not forget what happened to their dump of a stadium when Jalen Hurts walked into the tunnel back in January.

There is a ton of problems the Commanders need to solve. It won’t happen overnight, but Snyder leaving will be a good first step. If Bezos and Jay-Z end up buying the team, we’ll see a dramatic change in that organization, and Commander fans will finally have something to be excited about. They’ve had to watch Carson Wentz for god sake, give them something to cheer for.
