Four-star Cornerback Jayvon Thomas commits to Texas A&M

Four-star cornerback Jayvon Thomas has announced his commitment to Texas A&M. Thomas is the 11th-best corner nationally and ranked No. 106 overall in the 2023 football recruiting class, per the 247Sports Composite player rankings.

From Dallas, Texas, Thomas played high school football at South Oak Cliff, where he showed tremendous speed and athleticism to pair with a clear knowledge of the game. His instincts made him a threat both on the ground and in the air for opposing offenses and will be a welcomed addition for this Aggies defense.

Thomas’ play earned him interest from the likes of Alabama, Arkansas, and TCU. While it ended up being a hard-fought battle, with TCU making a late heaving push to bring Thomas in, the Aggies were ultimately the ones who closed the door, in large part due to having the latest visit of the schools.

Thomas now becomes the 17th commit for Texas A&M which puts them at No. 15, according to 247Sports Composite team rankings. Included in that class is another four-star cornerback, Bravion Rodgers, who should give the Aggies some elite playmakers on the outside.

Adding Thomas gives Texas A&M a very well-rounded recruiting class, but they still find themselves falling behind the big dogs in the SEC in Alabama, Georgia and LSU.

Despite this though, Aggie fans should be excited that they were able to land Jayvon Thomas. If he can add some muscle weight, he can truly be an elite corner and make this Aggie recruiting class look a lot better than it is.
