Sports Media
Nobody is safe at ESPN at this right. The ESPN Layoffs (link here) appear to be far from over and more firings are expected. Even Stephen A Smith says as such. Could Jay Williams be next to join the unemployment line? If so, does he have a future landing spot in mind?
You might want to watch this video. It sure sounds like Williams could be bound for Barstool Sports if he’s let go by ESPN. Beverley does some serious recruiting in this YouTube Short.
Williams has three months left on his contract and right now we have no idea if he will be extended by ESPN. Given their financial position, it wouldn’t be surprising at all if the former Bulls guard was let go. ESPN has already let go of similar NBA personalities such as Jalen Rose (link) and Vince Carter (link).
Patrick Beverley also seems very in favor of bringing Williams to Barstool. Would that mean Williams would be the co-host on the Pat Bev show or does that mean Williams would get his own show? Where does that leave Rone in that discussion? Not that it matters given that Rone brings almost nothing to the table as an NBA talking head.
It’s definitely something to keep an eye on. If Williams is let go by ESPN, Barstool could be the front runners. Then again, Davey no power might not have a say soooooo.
Beverley, 34, signed a one-year deal with the 76ers this offseason.
