Tua Tagovailoa apparently struck the fear of god in the hearts of Baltimore after he torched them for 469 passing yards. The Ravens just knew they had to do something to sure up this defense. Well, reinforcements appear to be on the way. The Ravens are on the verge of signing pass rusher Jason Pierre-Paul.
Josina Anderson of ESPN was the first to report the news:
Pierre-Paul, 33, was last seen with the Bucs. The former first round pick out of South Florida in 2010 had just 2.5 sacks a year ago. I’m not sure Pierre-Paul has much left but the Ravens have to be a little desperate. Prior to last year, JPP had 9.5 sacks. If Baltimore can get that version, this is a great get.
Who do the Ravens really have? They’re still trotting out old Justin Houston. If Pierre-Paul does have something in the tank, then the Ravens really lucked out here. Jaylon Ferguson was supposed to be that guy but tragedy, unfortunately, struck there. Tyus Bowser is still hurt. Odafe Oweh can only do so much.
The bottom line is this Ravens pass rush isn’t very good. Hell, the entire Ravens defense might not be very good. Time will tell but the defensive coordinator change to Mike MacDonald may not have been a good one. But still way too early to go there two games into the season.
