Jason Myers kicks a franchise record for the Seahawks

In the NFL, it seems a lot of times that one team’s garbage is another team’s treasure. Jason Myers, who has been in the NFL since 2015 seems to found his place in Seattle.

While kickers and punters don’t normally have long stints with the same team. It can be hard to find a truly good one. Myers has been with three teams in 5 years (Jacksonville Jaguars, New York Jets, and Seattle).

It wasnt until his third year that Myers became a good kicker. Making the Pro-bowl while sporting a Jets jersey.

While in Jacksonville, Myers played 3 years and made 64 out of 79 field goals. He then went to New York and connected on 33 of the 36 field goals he had kicked but, he was only signed to a one-year contract, and the Jets didn’t even try to retain him.

So the Seahawks offered him a contract and it has worked out well for them. In a Seahawks uniform, Myers has connected on a total of 30 out 35 field goals so far. But in 2020, he remains to be perfect halfway through the Seahawks week 10 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams.

With two seconds on the clock, Myers nailed a 61-yard field goal to set a new franchise record for the Seahawks.

This is pretty impressive considering the kickers that Seahawks have had play for them in the past decade. They have had Stephen Hauschka (best completion percentage in the franchise history 88.8%) and Sebastian Janikowski.

Even if the Seahawks lose this game, you can say Jason Myers tried to help the Seahawks win this game. So if a game comes down to a field goal Pete Carroll can trust his guy.
