Jarrett Allen Is One Of The Best Shot Blockers I’ve Seen

I started becoming a fan of Jarrett Allen last season when he was with D’Angelo Russell. I was a big fan of that Nets team in general. I had them in the playoffs before the season and NO ONE ELSE did. A big reason for that was Jarrett Allen is one of the best shot blockers I’ve ever seen. Now, honestly, they have two of the best shot-blockers on their team with DeAndre Jordan and Allen. That duo protects the paint for the Brooklyn Nets and does so better than most teams in the NBA.

Jarrett Allen Blocks Stats and Analysis

To really appreciate Jarrett Allen’s ability to block shots, you have to watch the Brooklyn Nets games. The stats don’t really do Jarrett Allen any justice. He only averages 1.4 BPG. However, just looking at stats, Hassan Whiteside averages a league-leading 3.0 BPG. I still think Allen is a better shot-blocker than Hassan Whiteside. When I talk about shot-blocking ability, I really mean when someone comes AT you and your ability to block it. While 3.0 BPG is wildly impressive, it doesn’t tell the full story. Most of Hassan Whiteside’s blocks are from help defense and things of that nature. He doesn’t do a lot else and NBA on TNT will not be shy to tell you. Not to discredit Whiteside’s ability to block shots, but Allen is better.

I know that this article is more subjective, but I can’t help feeling I am right and you would agree with me if you watch Allen. He’s blocked a majority of players dunking, including Lebron James. You might think that Hassan Whiteside is better but I implore you to watch Jarrett Allen and forget the stats. Jarrett Allen is the best 1 vs 1 shot-blocker in the game. If you don’t agree with me, the only reason why is that you haven’t seen enough of Jarrett Allen.
