What type of music do you listen to for motivation? For me, it’s the crazy head-banger heavy metal stuff. Although, I do have a crush on Charli XCX. For Jalen Brunson, it’s Justin Bieber.
The Knicks superstar point guard recently made an appearance on “The Tonight Show.” Brunson said his sister Erica “put me on to the ‘Purpose’ album”, which came out in 2015. Since then, Brunson has been rocking with Bieber and the results speak for themselves.
“So I listened to it, we end up winning,” Brunson explained, “and then it happened again, so I was like, ‘This might be a thing.’ And then we kept winning and winning, we won the national championship.”
“Great guy,” Brunson said. “Great music.”
Brunson averaged 9.6 points and 2.5 assists as a freshman at Villanova. Since the Bieber alteration, Brunson has won national championships in college and turned into one of the best-scoring guards in the NBA. Whatever he’s doing… it’s working. If Bieber drops another album, the Knicks may win the title at this rate.
The Villanova product is set to make his first All-Star appearance this year. Maybe Bieber will be courtside for that event and the two can finally meet. Bieber is also more of a hockey guy so maybe not.
Brunson has not met Bieber yet but Knicks’ fans may want to make that happen. Imagine how good Brunson can be if Bieber is really his good luck charm. Someone with influence in the Knicks building has work to do.
