Jake Paul has his next opponent. He will take on former UFC and Strikeforce competitor Tyron Woodley on August 28th at 190 pounds.
Please punch Paul’s face in. Every fan of real combat sports would be forever in your debt if you shut him up.
Paul comes in with a “professional” record of 3-0, beating AnEsonGib, Nate Robinson, and Ben Askren, none of whom had ever boxed professionally before. Askren was a wrestler in the UFC. Paul has never fought anyone that can throw punches like Woodley, and unless Woodley takes a dive as Askren did, Paul has no chance of beating him.
I think I speak for all boxing and UFC fans when I say that watching Paul get knocked out would be the perfect end to the summer.
Paul has made his boxing career off of fighting YouTubers and guys who cannot throw punches to save their lives. He brutally knocked out Askren, but he was one of the worst strikers in UFC history. Paul has base-level boxing experience and skills, but his competition has been so bad that he looks like a seasoned veteran by comparison. Woodley is levels above everyone Paul has fought so far. During his time in the UFC, Woodley captured 7 wins by knockout and landed nearly 50% of his significant strikes. Woodley is not a boxer per se, but he has boxing skills from his time in MMA.
I expect a knockout victory for Woodley inside 5 rounds. Paul can talk all he wants, but once Woodley lands one clean power shot, the fight will be over.
