Jake Paul set to box Tommy Fury in February

Jake Paul’s next boxing contest is booked. According to Ariel Helwani, Paul will fight Tommy Fury on Feb. 25.

For those that have been clamoring to see Paul fight a professional boxer, your wish has been granted. Fury, the brother of WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, has a professional boxing record of 8-0 with four knockouts.

Paul and Fury have their fair share of history. The pair have been booked to fight twice, once in 2021 and once in 2022, but Fury pulled out of both fights.

Despite never fighting a professional boxer, Paul has established an impressive boxing resume. Overall, he sits with a professional record of 6-0 with three knockouts. In boxing, Paul has defeated MMA champions Anderson Silva, Tyron Woodley and Ben Askren.

Let’s be honest, do not get too excited about this fight until you see Paul and Fury in the ring together. Fury did not pull out of two fights for no reason. I do not know if Fury is trying to avoid the fight or if he is actually injury prone. Either way, he has already pulled out twice. It could certainly happen again.

If Paul does get the opportunity to fight Fury, he will have a chance to further legitimize his boxing skillset. Paul’s win over Silva helped him accomplish that to an extent; however, Fury is younger than Paul and he has more boxing contests on his record. If Paul wants to gain more respect within the boxing community, this is a great next step.

This announcement will also put Paul’s MMA debut on the back burner for a couple of months. For those unaware, Paul signed with the PFL to compete in MMA. While a fight with Fury does not close the door on Paul’s MMA debut, it will postpone it.

Other details regarding the bout have yet to come out. At the moment, it is not clear where the pair will fight or what weight class they will compete in.
