I don’t have Jahan Dotson on the Cheese or OnlyFans list. However, I wanted to spend some time talking about the former Penn State product because he seems to be flying under the radar. I am much more receptive to the idea of taking Dotson in fantasy this season compared to his rookie season.
I’ve always liked Dotson the player. I just thought he was overdrafted. Would have been willing to pull the trigger on him in the second round. Just didn’t feel like he was a first round guy in the same draft as Garrett Wilson, Chris Olave, and George Pickens. You can read my draft profile on Dotson here.
I was really impressed with what he did as a rookie. While dealing with dysfunction and bad quarterback play, Dotson notched 35 receptions for 523 yards and seven touchdowns. Dotson didn’t help you in fantasy last year but he predictably showed you flashes of what he can become.
I won’t lie, I like his odds heading into the 2023-24 NFL Season. I have no issue stashing him as a dynasty play. In redraft, Dotson is one of my favorite receivers once you start getting deep into your drafts. Truthfully, I’m not sure the gap between him and Terry McLaurin will be that drastic.
Dotson represents everything that a healthy KJ Hamler could have been. The only difference is he’s a tick more explosive and gets open in the red area. Dotson scored touchdowns at Penn State and notched seven of them as a rookie in 12 games. With Sam Howell as the new QB, Dotson’s numbers should take a leap.
I think there is a chance that Dotson becomes a top 20 fantasy play this year and should be considered a total value.
