Jadon Sancho sounds off on Erik ten Hag following Arsenal defeat
Jadon Sancho has not exactly impressed many while at Manchester United. However, it’s possible that his future at Old Trafford is already decided.
The former Dortmund winger took to social media following the Red Devils’ 3-1 loss to rivals Arsenal to lash out against manager Erik ten Hag. Eyebrows went up when the Dutchman did not even include Sancho on the bench for their trip to the Emirates. However, the former Ajax boss was very direct on the reasons why Sancho was excluded.
“You have to reach a level every day at Manchester United and we can make choices in the front line,” the Dutch coach said. “So for this game he was not selected.”

The former wonderkid did not take his manager’s words in silence. Read his tweet for yourself below:

Imagine what’s going on behind closed doors for this to happen! Whether it’s Sancho himself or someone in his circle, this takes some serious nerve to make public. We already saw ten Hag forcibly remove Cristiano Ronaldo out of his team after he went public with Piers Morgan last year. How could this work itself out with a 23-year-old who’s got multiple years left on his contract?
This is yet another twist and turn for a player in only his third year of Premier League experience. Remember that he spent multiple months away from the team in the middle of the season last year. It was clearly for off the pitch reasons, but it still makes you feel for a guy who clearly has so much talent.
Sour Summer
United’s slow start to the season combined with off the field news like this has left fans feeling upset and pessimistic. Nearly all of the momentum of finishing third with a trophy in 2022-23 is gone.
This also comes after a very expensive window for ten Hag. Many expected Mason Mount, Andre Onana, Rasmus Højlund and Sofyan Amrabat to considerably improve the Red Devils (myself included). However, it seems that they have taken a collective step back. Part of that has to do with regression from individuals like Sancho and others but the manager himself must also be accountable.
Jadon Sancho and Erik ten Hag are probably not going to eat breakfast together anytime soon. Manchester United have had a nerve-wracking start to the season and it looks to potentially get even worse.
