Jack Cambell Somehow Thinks He Was Playing Well With The Oilers

Jack Campbell is a total disaster. On the season Campbell sports a stat line of 1-4-0 record to go along with an .873 save percentage and 4.50 goals against average. Campbell has been one of the worst goalies in the league and was placed on waivers and sent to the Bakersfield Condors in the AHL.

Want to hear something crazier? Despite the fact that Campbell stinks, he wants you to know that he thought he was playing well. Not even joking.

“(It was) pretty tough, not gonna lie,” Campbell told reporters Thursday, including Sportsnet. “I’m pretty hard on myself, I think that’s pretty well documented around the hockey world. Obviously, it’s a results league up there – really anywhere – but I felt like I was playing well, had some confidence. But obviously, the numbers weren’t good enough.”

What a quote. How the hell can this guy possibly think he was playing well? He’s not just bad this year. He was terrible last year too.

Are The Oilers Forced To Trade Jack Campbell?

I don’t even know what to say because it’s so delusional. By the way, Campbell got rocked in his AHL debut. He gave up four goals on 20 shots including this one.

Where do you go from here if you’re the Oilers? Campbell signed a contract with Edmonton and is currently in the second year of a five year pact worth $25 million. They have to find a way to move this guy somehow, someway. What other alternative is there? Just no way the Oilers can put him back in net. Not if they actually want to win.

Calvin Pickard was called up to replace Campbell. We’ll see if Pickard can help the team. If not, the Oilers will have to hit the trade market to find a goalie or their season is toast.
