Ish’s Picks from yesterday

The plays that didn’t hit yesterday were Over 223.5 for the Spurs Grizzlies game and 1H Lakers -3. Grizzlies won and Spurs covered +4. The Lakers came back in the second half thanks to their elevated defense and a 30-footer from LeBron James. Capitals covered +1.5 and Bruins won in OT, so both paid off. The People’s Parlay simply was not for the people yesterday, but not to fear. New day, new slate!

Indiana Pacers vs Washington Wizards 8 pm ET

These teams are coming off opposite performances: the Pacers looked incredible blowing out the Hornets, while the Wizards could not find their flow against the Celtics and barely reached triple-digit points during the game. Domantas Sabonis and Malcolm Brogdon have been carrying the Pacers with the help of some of their key role players, many of whom have stepped up in the absence of Myles Turner and Caris LeVert. Oshae Brissett, Doug McDermott, TJ McConnell, and Edmond Sumner will need to continue to support the Pacers’ stars with their shooting and defensive capabilities. Russell Westbrook and Bradley Beal could not get their shots to fall against the Celtics and the Wizards cannot compete if neither scores consistently, so the Wizards must look to bounce back from a big loss as the home favorites. Washington has not guarded Sabonis well all season and if that continues, look for a 25-point triple-double from the All-Star. Beal’s health is also concerning, as his limited movement against Boston, especially on defense, was clearly evident throughout that game.

PICK: Pacers catch the underdog road victory. I have been a fan of the Pacers all season, and their energy against Charlotte has me believing that they will come out on all cylinders against a slightly better team like Washington. The Pacers have been more consistent this season and even though Washington finished the season strong, they appeared to have partially run out of gas by the end of it.

Pittsburgh Penguins at New York Islanders

New York went 21-4-3 and had the 3rd best home record in the league this year, so while it is possible that the Penguins can get the job done on the road, the Islanders remain likely to win. That being said, Pittsburgh is bringing its star power to bear against the depth of the Islanders, so this game is really a flip of a coin. Penguins +1.5 would be the way to go but it is not worth it at its currently given odds (-285) unless it is parlayed.

PICK: Under 5.5 Goals, Lean Islanders ML. My favorite play is Penguins +1.5 in a parlay.

Tampa Bay Lightning at Florida Panthers

Coming home after winning both games on the road, Tampa Bay has dominated this series and should be expected to win again tonight. Vasilevskiy has been a wall in-between the pipes for them all series and kept the Panthers scoreless on power plays in the second game. Stamkos and Kucherov are back for the Lightning and should not slow down in the first round. LIGHTNING IN 4!

PICK: Lightning ML, Panthers +1.5

People’s Parlays:

Wild ML, Under 5.5 Vegas/Wild, Islanders ML

Bomb of the Night: Wild ML, Under 5.5 Penguins/Islanders, Panthers +1.5, Pacers ML Canadiens +1.5
