While Nintendo is certainly a leader within the video game industry, they’ve mostly taken a backseat in the console business when compared to Sony and Microsoft’s aggressive competition between each other. That being said, news about Nintendo’s own efforts in the console market are never to be ignored, with news of a brand-new version of their popular Switch portable console being no exception.
During Pokémon Presents on Feb. 27, the annual event where news regarding the future of the video and trading car game are announced, all sorts of new and exciting expansions and projects were announced. But between the DLCs, expansion packs and more, rumors of a new model of Switch that’s to be released alongside Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s DLC later this year started popping up.
Notable leaker Centro Leaks put out information regarding a new model of Switch potentially coming later this year. Specifically, that these new models of Switch would have enhanced graphics compared to older models.
While there is exactly zero official information regarding a new model of console. Centro Leaks’ other leaks regarding DLC, expansions and minor updates across the Pokémon world so far have been very accurate. While only time can tell if this leak is accurate, Centro Leaks has usually been right. Perhaps they will be right this time, too.
If a new model of Switch with enhanced graphics really is to come out, it would be a very positive change for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. One of the biggest complaints and criticisms that game has is its subpar graphics. Enhanced graphics might just turn that stigma around, but we’ll just have to wait and see first if these new models even exist.
