Is Jon ‘Bones’ Jones looking for his UFC release?
Is Jon Bones Jones looking for a way out of his UFC contract? It certainly looks that way from his tweets earlier today. Jones put Dana White on blast after a super fight with Francis Ngannou was canceled due to Jones asking for an obscene amount of money according to Dana White.
Jones took offense to Dana’s words and jumped on Twitter to defend himself. He also challenged how much he gets paid by Dana and the UFC compared to other fighters (naming Diante Wilder in particular).
If you’re going to stick to these lies, I’m going to stick to defending myself. Please have your lawyer Hunter Campbell release those text messages.

Don’t be a fucking liar, my reputation has already taking enough hits. I don’t need this bullshit Dana. I never asked for Diante Wilder‘s numbers. And how about since Diante is making 30 million, we settle for half of that. Since you said I’m the goat and everything.

I don’t even make half of half of what Diante Wilder makes. If my reputation causes you to undervalue me this much. Just go ahead and release me from my @Ufc contract altogether. I’m sure some promoter somewhere will be more than happy to pick me up.

And if I wanted to compare money to someone else, I would compare money to my brothers. I see firsthand the way the NFL treats their champion athletes, there’s a huge difference. I’ve kept my mouth shut my entire career.

Jones’ last fight was in February at UFC 247 when he beat Dominick Reyes on points to retain the light heavyweight title. He hasn’t come without drama though, having been stripped of the title on a number of occasions due to failed drug tests.
He was also arrested in March of this year in Albuquerque, New Mexico after being found in his car over the legal limit and in possession of a hand gun. He pleaded guilty to the DWI in a plea deal that saw other charges dropped and was sentenced to four days house arrest, one year of supervised probation, a minimum of 90 days of outpatient therapy, and he must complete 48 hours of community service.
Jones holds a MMA record of 26-1-1 with his only loss coming against Matt Hamill in 2009 during The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights Finale. Jones was disqualified for illegal downward elbows. His one No Contest was in 2017 when his KO victory of Daniel Cormier was overturned after he failed a drug test.

Jones is considered by man fans pound for pound the best fighter in the game and would be a major loss to the UFC after already losing Henry Cejudo who retired after his win over Dominik Cruz at UFC 249.
