All Indications Point To Jaylen Brown Wanting To Stay In Boston Long Term

If the Boston Celtics trade Jaylen Brown in a package for Kevin Durant, it would go down as one of the biggest boneheaded moves in NBA history. That’s coming from someone who thinks KD is the GOAT of this current generation. Brown has every right to be pissed off by the rumors. Nevertheless, if it’s up to Brown, all signs point to him wanting to stay in Boston for the long haul.

Steve Bulpett of Heavy.com quotes a league executive:

“I think Jaylen IS long term,” this latter source told Heavy. “If they want him long term and they’re going to pay him the contract he deserves, I think he’s all-in on Boston. From everything I’ve been told, Jaylen’s a loyal guy. I know frustration can happen when things aren’t going well, and I think we saw some of that earlier in this past season.

“But when you take a step back and look at things, I think he wants to be there. And any problems that could ever happen with that relationship would probably have to come from him getting the idea that they’re not in on him. And right now I don’t see that from the Celtics. I think they know what they have in Jaylen — now and for the future — and they want to keep that going.

“But, like I said, it’s Kevin f****** Durant, and you know Brooklyn is going to want to talk about Jaylen. Even if stuff about trade talks wasn’t getting leaked and reported, anyone with a brain would know that Jaylen’s name is going to come up at some point if they’re talking to Boston.”

I’ve made my thoughts on this whole thing very clear. 25-year-old Jaylen Brown is has more trade value than Kevin Durant in year 16, age 34 season. It’s just a fact. Trying understanding human life curves. Maybe you will figure it out then.

All indications are that Jaylen loves being with the Celtics. This is a team that just went to the NBA Finals. It’s a deep team that is currently favorites to win the title next year. Why would he want to leave this spot? Jayson Tatum and Brown both love proving the haters wrong. They were both drafted a year apart and feel like both want to hoist that Finals trophy.

This will never not be facts.

Because of NBA rules, Brown would actually lose money if he signs an extension. It’s a stupid rule but it’s the way the CBA works. There is no reason to panic if Brown fails to sign an extension with Boston. Regardless, Brown is under contract for two more seasons. Based on the way these teams run their cap sheets, who the hell knows who’s even going to have cap space to even pose a threat to Boston. Brown can also sign for an extra year and more money by sticking around in Boston.
