Imagine Being The Guy That Tells Connor McDavid That You Traded Leon Draisaitl

Sorry in advance for this rant, but I’m still not over it. John Buccigross over at ESPN had the brilliant idea of suggesting that the Oilers should trade Leon Draisaitl to the Bruins. If you can’t tell already, I’m being sarcastic, but I’d like to set to stage for this motion picture film. Imagine being the guy that tells Connor McDavid you traded Leon Draisaitl.

I’m just picturing it now. Imagine being part of the Oilers front office. You watch the fellas get their morning skate in late because they’re chill bros on the West Coast. You get the news that the team is trading Draisaitl to Boston. Your job is to be the guy who tells McDavid that they traded Draisaitl.

How do you think that conversation goes?

“Oh, by the way, Connor. We just traded Draisaitl to Boston”.

Does he punch you in the face?

Does he immediately leave the rink and pack his things?

Does he stare into your soul and you immediately die because he’s McJesus?

Either way, let’s get to the crux of the argument. If John Buccigross is working for the Oilers he never has the balls to pull the trigger on that trade, let alone tell the best player in hockey that he traded a first-ballot Hall of Famer (who might be the second best player in the sport) during a win-now window.

John Buccigross Should Be Slapped For His Idiotic Fake Trade Involving Leon Draisaitl

Forget about the part that Ryan Whitney ignored him because he’s not worth his time. Are the people over at ESPN even paying attention to their hockey department? Clearly, they’re not after I embarrassed Sean Allen in fantasy hockey.

If I’m running ESPN’s hockey department, Buccigross gets a letter sent to him saying not to show up for work. Maybe try again in two weeks after having time to reflect on why he’s embarrassing. What a joke this guy is. I mean seriously.

Do me a favor, John. Drive to Edmonton and tell McDavid that you think the Oilers should trade Draisaitl. Let’s see how it goes. Except you don’t have the balls to do that. Another reason that makes your fake trade so stupid that someone should slap you.
