I’m SO Ready For Golf Season
As a former college athlete and avid sports fan, I have been looking for something to keep my competitive fire and love for completion alive and well. It took me years to find this hobby outside of wrestling. It is one that has combined my competitive nature, love of nature, and an absolute passion for hanging out with the boys and cracking a couple zillion cold ones and getting completely blitzed. That’s right people, golf season is right around the corner.
Now I never thought that I’d be in this position. Golf never interested me growing up. I thought it was too slow, too long, and not enough hitting. Unless of course if you’re lucky enough to be in my foursome where we routinely ram each other with carts and at least one fight breaks out like clock work. I was completely wrong and will never take this sport for granted again. Sure I completely sucked the first couple times I went out with the boys and tried to drive the shit out of the ball. In fact, I probably lost more balls than I had solid drives. But none of that matters when you’re out on a Saturday chugging brews and smoking a couple stogies with the boys. I have been practicing for this golf season since September people. The countless hours in the gym, the day drinking, hitting up bars that still allow cigs inside to make sure my conditioning is up and making sure that I have the proper equipment to not only play good but look good has been exhausting. It’s been one of the most difficult training periods of my life. I’m ready to rock the absolute hell out of the ball and shotgun a cold one at every hole with the crew. I feel like I can up my game this year from completely sucking to just plain bad this year.
In all seriousness though I wish I had given the great sport of golf a shot earlier when my oldest brother tried to get me into it in high school. Being able to not only compete against others but yourself is something that I truly appreciate it. Plus there’s honestly no better feeling than lining up at the tees and having a big drive, or sinking a 59 foot put in front of your boys and never letting them forget it. Been there done that. If I don’t go out at least once a week this spring and summer I am going to absolutely lose it, people. Good luck to everyone this upcoming season. May your drives be long, putts go in, and beer be cold. Chach out!
