Sports Media
It seems like tons of people have the same question, how do I get noticed in the media world? The media world is not the same as our parent’s media world, it has transformed into something they could have never imagined. Brendan Clancy, the original producer of KFC Radio which is the longest-running podcast at Barstool Sports came on my podcast (Kriegs Korner) to give me some pointers as an aspiring producer.
Clancy shares the story of how the head of YouTube for the company got his foot in the door.
“Even Logan, who know runs YouTube for Barstool and is the Executive Producer of Surviving Barstool, he got Kev’s (KFC) attention by just making funny compilations and good videos and sending them to KFC, not even asking for a job”

Then he gave some insight on how people get hired at Barstool Sports, and how that has changed since the early days of the company.
“There are a few differences nowadays. It’s a little bit more of a regular company [than the old days].” If we try and roll out another show we can ask if they have any people in the pipeline. It is more of a traditional pipeline of a company.”

It makes sense that the process has changed at Barstool since Clancy got there. They have since grown from a six-person office in Boston to a mega-brand that employs hundreds of people. He and his brother, Kevin (KFC) have been trying out different shows for years.
In any career path experience is king and it is part of the reason I came to Vendetta as an intern. This was a place to produce content, get hands-on experience with editing and producing content, and not only for myself but work with other talents at the company and just learn. I think that is a good way to get noticed in the media. (I hope).
