How Much Fantasy Football Dynasty Value Does Skyy Moore Have?

Someone has to catch the ball from Patrick Mahomes, right? Outside of Travis Kelce, the wide receiver options the Chiefs currently have are a bit underwhelming. Obviously, the most intriguing young bet on the roster is Skyy Moore, but how much fantasy football dynasty value does the Western Michigan product really have?

This could have just been so much easier. Just imagine if Brett Veach wasn’t a dumbass and just took George Pickens instead? God, I can’t imagine how much fantasy value he would have. We almost had a real sleeper play with Justyn Ross instead and now he’s even on IR. What could have been…

On paper, yes, you want Skyy Moore stock. This is the Chiefs’ offense and if their second round pick pops, you’re looking at a gold mine. I’m just not convinced that’s what will happen. The range of outcomes feels very wide. Are we sure we can totally dismiss JuJu Smith-Schuster? Are we positive Moore is better than Mecole Hardman? I’m not.

In fact, the trajectory of Moore and Hardman feels kinda similar. I liked Skyy Moore coming into the draft but he certainly wasn’t on the love list. A second round pick felt a little too rich for my blood. We’re still talking about a 5-foot-10, 185 pound target that can run. The only difference is he played was Western Michigan, not Georgia. The hit rate on those smaller receivers isn’t automatic.

My point here is that you should be careful about getting in a bidding war for the Chiefs’ rookie receiver. Just because he’s on the Chiefs doesn’t automatically make him a home run pick. A lot of people learned that lesson the hard way with Hardman. Marquez Valdes-Scantling is also on the roster. You can’t just bookmark Moore taking the Tyreek Hill role right away. That’s probably a mistake.

Of course, let’s not be too negative. There is a shot this puppy works although I lean more towards that happening long term. Just be careful about getting into a serious bidding war. I like the dart throw but Moore’s fantasy stock should be viewed as just that. A dart throw that may or may not work. It’s about taking the right dart throws and evaluating the risk in doing so with their draft price.
