How Does Jalen Brunson Feel About The Knicks Trading Away Donte DiVincenzo?

RIP The Nova Knicks. Leon Rose actually acquired Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, Mikal Bridges, and Donte DiVincenzo on the same roster from that infamous Villanova team. Except, it never actually came to fruition and Rose killed the Nova Knicks before they ever got a chance to play together.

How does team leader Jalen Brunson feel about the trade? He made it clear that he loves DiVincenzo and made sure to note that he was a Groomsman at his wedding.

“[Donte DiVincenzo] was a groomsman at my wedding, so that should tell you everything you need to know about our relationship,” Brunson said. “I love him to death, and we’ll see him soon.”

Maybe this trade will be worth it for the Knicks. If New York needed to do anything with this roster, it was upgrade the Julius Randle spot. Randle’s contract was an elephant in the room and Mitchell Robinson can’t be counted on health wise. After you lose Isaiah Hartenstein this offseason, adding a guy like Towns makes all the sense in the world.

With that said, I’m just not sure I would have made this deal. It’s worth remembering that Brunson did this franchise a huge favor by signing a team-friendly extension. To turn around and trade one of his best friends right after the fact feels extremely shady. Are you sure you want to just throw a curveball into the room with what had become such a strong culture team? Does Towns fit into that gritty defensive-minded team?
