WWE held John Cena’s 20-year anniversary show yesterday on Raw. Two decades ago on the day, Cena made his debut in the company. A pair of words launched a once in a lifetime career, “ruthless aggression.” Cena has wrestled some of the best wrestlers ever to lace up their boots. Throughout the night, professional wrestling legends paid tribute to him.
Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Randy Orton, Trish Stratus, and Stone Cold Steve Austin were only a handful of legends to pay tribute to John Cena. Cena has faced some of the best to ever wrestle in WWE, therefore it was no surprise to see those people congratulate him. It was a surprise to see some AEW stars on Raw, though. Bryan Danielson (Daniel Bryan), Chris Jericho, and Paul Wight (The Big Show) made a video congratulating Cena. Their videos aired on Raw this past Monday night.
Jericho, Danielson, and Wight each had their fair share of matches against Cena. However, this is the first time we have seen these wrestlers on WWE television in a while. Danielson last appeared on WWE television in April of 2021, Wight last appeared in January of 2021, and Jericho last appeared in 2018, according to Fightful Select.
Cena has had a legendary career that goes beyond wrestling companies. Cena is a once in a lifetime professional wrestler and will go down as one of the best to ever do it. Although he hasn’t wrestled in a while, he made it clear he wasn’t retired. Cena said he just wasn’t sure when his next match was going to be. It’s nice to see WWE and AEW working together in some sort of aspect. Professional wrestling is a better place when companies work together, for example, Forbidden Door.
