The Green Bay Packers actually did something in free agency for the first time in 800 years. Jimmy Graham signed with Green Bay this offseason to give Aaron Rodgers the ultimate red zone threat. However, the ole reliable Jordy Nelson was released to clear the way for Graham to sign. Does that really make Green Bay that much better? Realistically, this Green Bay roster is way behind Minnesota. Having said that, what can we expect from the Green Bay Packers during the 2018 NFL Draft?

Green Bay holds the 14th pick in the draft. Obviously, this is much higher than this organization is used to picking because Aaron Rodgers was not healthy last year. The offense really isn’t the problem with the Packers. Davante Adams, Randall Cobb, and Jimmy Graham is more than fine. Even this offensive line has talent. The defense is the black hole of this roster. Green Bay needs a never-ending supply of corners. Mike Hughes of Central Florida could be the pick. Central Florida was loaded this past year and Hughes was a huge part of their success. Hughes started his collegiate career at UNC but finished at Central Florida. Hughes also comes with ball skills reeling in four interceptions in 2017.

Aaron Rodgers Wants To Spent Entire Career With Packers

Can Green Bay find a linebacker so they can move Clay Matthews back to edge rusher? Dom Capers had to go but Green Bay really needs to find a linebacker to lead this unit. Josey Jewell of Iowa could be that guy. Jewell is a tackling machine, just go watch his season-opening performance against Wyoming. Jewell isn’t a freak athlete but has awesome instincts that will make his defenders better. Blake Martinez isn’t cutting him.

With a new gm in town, it’s really hard to predict what Green Bay might do. The Ted Thompson era is over and so are his philosophies. The Packers are even signing guys in free agency. 2018 should be an interesting year as Aaron Rodgers starts to head into his final years in the league.
