NC State quarterback Grayson McCall was carted off the field after taking an ugly hit on October 5th against Wake Forest. It turns out that it will be the last we will ever see from the guy. The former Coastal Carolina signal caller is calling it quits and will retire from football after one too many head injuries.
“Unfortunately, my dream has been cut just short. As you all know, I have battled injuries my whole career, but this is one that I cannot come back from,” McCall wrote. “I have done everything I can to continue, but this is where the good Lord has called me to serve in a different space. Brain specialists, my family, and I have come to the conclusion that it is in my best interest to hang the cleats up.”
McCall, 23, gave us some fun moments over the years. The Coastal Carolina days were fun as hell. To the point where McCall was starting to gain some NFL buzz. McCall was set to try to boost his stock by playing for NC State this year after entering the portal. Obviously, that hasn’t gone as planned after a poor showing regardless of the injuries.
The plan for McCall now is to enter the coaching ranks. We here at VSM wish him the best moving forward in his future endeavors.
“I look forward to taking my passion and love for the game into the coaching space to serve and lead the next group of kids with a dream,” he said in his post.
