Grand Theft Auto VI Release Date Has Been Pushed Back To 2026

Gamers received bad news recently as one of the major game releases has been postponed to 2026. Mario Kart World, Borderlands 4, and Ghost of Yōtei are some of the big titles that are set to come out in 2025. However, the most anticipated game by far was Grand Theft Auto VI. Unfortunately, Rockstar Games has announced that the latest installment in the GTA franchise will be postponed to 2026.

Grand Theft Auto is one of the biggest gaming franchises. The first GTA came out in 1997, and the last/seventh installment came out in 2013. The last game, GTA V, became one of the most successful games ever due to the copies sold and the revenue generated. Furthermore, Grand Theft Auto VI has been hyped up because GTA V set a new standard for what video games could be.

Also, Rockstar Games has been exceeding expectations with their other popular franchise, Red Dead Redemption. Red Dead 2, which was Rockstar’s last major release, came out in 2018, and it was praised by fans and critics alike. Fans were hoping 2025 would be the year everyone could get their hands on a new GTA.

GTA VI Postponement

Now, it appears fans will have to wait at least one more year for a new game (knock on wood). That means it will be eight years since Rockstar Games’ last major release and 13 years since GTA V. The developers are putting themselves in a tough spot as anticipation builds, and anything other than a perfect game might not live up to the hype. However, they have a fantastic track record with releasing classic games. Hopefully, gamers will get more teasers and news on Grand Theft Auto VI to make the extended wait a bit easier.
