Goldman Sachs Trader Adam Berry to Join Eagles as Exec

Goldman Sachs Trader Adam Berry to Join Eagles as Exec

While many Eagles fans, myself included, are still celebrating the fact that they will be playing in another Super Bowl, some news regarding the team’s front office has made some headlines. One of Goldman Sachs’ senior traders, Adam Berry, has accepted an executive position with the Philadelphia Eagles.

While his exact job title has still yet to be announced, it’s been reported that he will be learning all the facets of the team’s football operations.

While Berry has spent his life as a Wall Street worker, he does have ties to the football world. His twin brother, Andrew, is the general manager for the Cleveland Browns and became the youngest person in NFL history to become executive vice president of football operations in 2020 with the Eagles. So even as a Wall Street worker, Berry has still been immersed in the world of the NFL, which should give him some knowledge on at least how to manage money when running a team.

Prior to his job at Goldman Sachs, Berry attended Princeton where he played receiver for the school’s football team. Berry himself often talked about the benefits playing sports had for him and could have for others.

“I often tell people that I have learned more on the athletic field, the weight room, and the track than I have in any classroom,” Berry said.

Berry is clearly a hyperintelligent dude. I mean, he survived Goldman Sachs’ mass firing of 3,200 workers which has to say something about his intelligence and ability to do his job. I just usually tend to believe that anyone who survives a mass firing is someone you should want to work for you — and the Eagles have done just that in bringing in Berry.

So will this move help the Eagles at all?

Now, Howie Roseman will obviously remain in charge of the general manager duties and building the team. He clearly doesn’t need to seem too much help in that department. But Berry could surely help in terms of helping to manage the spending and costs of running the team, especially if Hurts is signed to the monster extension being talked about — which will certainly make his job a bit harder.

He is sure to be a valued addition to an Eagles’ executive staff which has built two Super Bowl-caliber teams in the last six years. While it’s not the sexiest news for Eagles fans considering their recent success, I still think it’s something to pay attention to and worth noting.

It’s never a bad idea to have smart people on your staff. And even if it takes Berry a little bit of time to adjust, you’re still getting a hyper-intelligent man who will find some way to be valuable to the Eagles.
