God of War Ragnarok Release Date Announced by PlayStation

A new God of War game is finally on the horizon. Sony’s God of War Ragnarok has an official release date of Nov. 9, 2022, per an announcement by PlayStation on Wednesday.

Ragnarok is the sequel to the fantastic God of War game released in 2018 that follows the story of Kratos and his son named Atreus. However, the God of War franchise has been around for a long time, with the first game releasing back in 2005 on PlayStation 2. There were two more installments released on PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 that continued Kratos’ rampage among the gods leaving a trail of blood and anguish behind him.

What made God of War (2018) so good is that there was a shift to a Norse setting and a change of heart for Kratos as he embarked on a path of redemption. Atreus became a second protagonist which only added to the emotions and high-level stakes of the game. This God of War game, much like the previous three installments, was great cinematically, had top-notch combat, and extremely gory kills.

Gamers are immensely excited for Ragnarok as it presents a new adventure filled with thrills, destruction, and despair. God of War is an amazing franchise that has delivered for many years with every major release and this installment should be no different. Besides the release date announcement, Santa Monica Studio also dropped a Ragnarok cinematic trailer.

God of War Ragnarok

Ragnarok will be hitting PS4 and PS5, making it the first game in the franchise to be released on a previous-generation console and a current-generation console at the same time. Also, this is the first major God of War title release that is dropping directly on the new PlayStation 5 next-generation console.

It will be fun to see how cinematic the beautiful landscapes and gruesome kills will look on the top-tier graphics of the PlayStation 5. Fans’ excitement continues to build as everyone is one step closer to seeing Kratos, with his Leviathan Axe, and Atreus back in action.

It has been a long time coming since the God of War 2018 release and the September 2020 announcement of a new game, but gamers are finally getting Ragnarok this fall.
