Get Ready For The Oscar Delp Breakout Party

After his freshman season, it was pretty obvious that Brock Bowers was a lock to be a first round pick. Bowers has since become a superstar at Georgia but now the Dawgs are going to have to live life without their stud tight end. Bowers underwent ankle surgery and will miss the next few weeks. That would be a backbreaker for 99.9% of programs. Georgia is the 0.1%. I’m just going to warn you now. Get ready for the Oscar Delp breakout party. It’s coming to a theater near you.

Now, I’m not going to sit here and call Delp a guaranteed first rounder like I did with Bowers. Mostly because I don’t think Delp is nearly as good.

Duh…

Just know that you shouldn’t be snoozing on Delp. He’s NFL level good and you’re about to see for yourself now that he’s going to be elevated into a starting role.

Delp, a sophomore out of Cumming, Georgia, was the number one rated tight end coming out of high school during the 2022 cycle. 6-foot-5, and he’s since bulked up to 245. He doesn’t quite have that power and YAC ability that Bowers does. However, Delp has receiver like route running ability and just knows how to get open. Quick feet and can cut really well. Can create after the catch but is even better at contorting his body to make the difficult catch seem easy.

With Darnell Washington gone, Delp has gotten more of an extended run this year. Thus far on the season, Delp has 13 receptions for 160 yards and two scores. That’s while playing second fiddle to Bowers. That, of course, isn’t going to be the case as Bowers recovers from the ankle injury.

When it happens, make sure to thank me for warning you. He’s going to pop off these next few weeks and will establish himself as the clear cut TE1 for the 2025 NFL Draft. The breakout party is on the way. Just be ready for it. It’s next man up at Georgia and the next man up at tight end is a monster. Georgia is the real Tight End U and Delp will help prove that in the coming weeks.
