Adin Hill is a Stanley Cup champion and is coming off an incredible run as the Vegas Golden Knights’ starting goaltender. Through the Stanley Cup playoffs, Hill went 11-4 with a .932 SV% and definitely upped his free agent value. However, it sounds like Hill may be interested in taking a hometown discount to stay with Vegas.
Hill’s agent, Gerry Johannson, spoke more about his upcoming free agent market.
“We’re obviously going to give it the big college try to get him signed in Vegas,” Hill’s agent, Gerry Johannson, told The Athletic’s Pierre LeBrun. “I think that’s always the goal when a guy likes it in a spot.
“We’re keeping an eye on everything else, too, but if we can make it work in Vegas, that would be the best thing, right?”
Per CapFriendly, the Golden Knights have just under $3.5 million of cap space. However, that number can increase substantially if they are able to move off of Robin Lehner. Something that’s expected to take place one way or another. Lehner could end up on LTIR or be shipped off to another team via trade.
It does seem like Vegas is also interested in bringing Hill back. They held extension talks with the former Coyotes and Sharks netminder prior to the postseason. The VGK used five different goalies this past year but a one-two punch of Logan Thompson and Hill for next season makes a lot of sense. Maybe Jonathan Quick is interested in returning as the third option too. Jiri Patera and Carl Lindbom are two young guys with potential as well.
