Gable Steveson is awesome at wrestling and cutting promos as he rolled to his second Big Ten title at heavyweight.
After defeating Mason Parris from Michigan in the final bout of the tournament, he made sure everyone knew where he and Parris stacked up when asked about his “rivalry”.
This aint a rivalry, I came here and did my job. I am 2-0 against him. I am going to see him next week though, I am not worried about nothin’. I put my skills on display here and it is going to happen again”
Steveson after winning the 285 pound Big Ten Tournament.
He really is right, there isn’t much competition between Gable and anyone else in the world right now, he has dominated anyone in his path this season and is looking to continue that momentum in the NCAA tournament in a few weeks.
The Rest of the Tournament
The Iowa Hawkeyes dominated the tournament this year, clinching the win before the tournament even concluded. They had four champions this year in Spencer Lee (125), Jaydin Eierman (141), Alex Marinelli (165), and Michael Kemerer (174).
They only had one weight class where a Hawkeye did not place in the top 8 (149). Austin DeSanto was a runner up at 133 losing to Roman Bravo Young from Penn State.
Penn State came in 2nd place with two champions and placing all but one wrestler in the top 8. They had two wrestlers place 2nd, including Nick Lee who lost to Eireman at 141 in one of the best matches of the tournament.
Ohio State was the disappointment of the tournament, finishing 9th in the team standings with only one champion in Sammy Sasso at 149.
TL//DR: Gable Steveson is awesome, and Iowa rolled to a Big Ten Wrestling championship.
