Four-Star OL Douglas Utu Commits To Tennessee

Four-star Offensive Lineman Douglas Utu took his first visit to Tennessee back in April, and off of one visit alone, the University did enough to land on his list of schools. Utu would go back for another visit this past weekend, and it was yesterday when he announced his commitment to play for Josh Heupel and the Volunteers. He wrapped up his visit on Sunday and wasted little time announcing his commitment, as he committed the very next day.

The 6-foot-4, 317-pound Utu from notable powerhouse Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas, Nev., had offers from big-time schools, such as Alabama, Michigan and Washington, among others. Utu’s commitment gives Heupel and the Volunteers their 14th commitment for the 2025 class, which is shaping up to be solid. He is the third Offensive Lineman commitment, with Nic Moore from Tennessee and Antoni Kade Ogumoro from Oklahoma.

Douglas Utu told GoVols247 via 247sports.com that Tennessee “felt they have the tools and the necessities for me while I’m here.”

Four-Star QB Antwann Hill Commits To Memphis

Douglas Utu was a four-year starter for Bishop Gorman, which is not an easy thing to do. He has experience playing inside at Guard and outside at Tackle, which will provide Tennessee flexibility to play him where the need is. Great frame and a high motor are what you look for in traits for your Offensive Lineman, and Utu has both in spades. Very nimble feet and good acceleration to kick out on swing plays. He provides upside as a blocker in the run game and in pass protection, and this could help his chances of seeing the field early in his career for the Volunteers.
