Five Star Wars Characters Who Deserve Their Own Series After ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’

The Star Wars Obi-Wan Kenobi series was a real treat for fans, providing even more depth on the complex character that is the show’s namesake, while also giving us insight into a youthful Princess Leia. Overall, the six-episode mini-series gave viewers a great story, amazing visuals, and one iconic Obi-Wan Kenobi vs Darth Vader showdown. This led to the question of what other Star Wars characters should have their own series on Disney+. So, here are five Star Wars characters that deserve their own Obi-Wan Kenobi spin-off series.

1. Darth Maul

Darth Maul is an easy pick as he has been a fan favorite among Star Wars fans for a long time. He is a fantastic Sith in Episode I – The Phantom Menace with a menacing look, a unique lightsaber, and a captivating dueling style. He has since been a phenomenal villain in the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels which demonstrated how great of a character Darth Maul is and how he is capable of carrying a story on his own.

There are two different avenues that Disney+ could go on for a Darth Maul series. One idea would be a series based on Maul becoming Darth Sidious’ apprentice and it would depict the Dathomirian’s life while being recruited by Sidious. It could show how Maul became so skilled as a duelist and how he got his iconic dual-sided lightsaber. The other idea would be to do a live-action story similar to the Clone Wars series which shows Maul’s rise to power again after his defeat to Obi-Wan Kenobi in The Phantom Menace

Ultimately, Darth Maul is one of the best Star Wars characters and he deserves another chance in the spotlight to show mainstream audiences the greatness of his character.

2. Mace Windu

Mace Windu is another fan favorite Star Wars character as he was one of the most powerful Jedi in the order, a phenomenal duelist, and had an incredible grasp of ‘the Force’. He was great in the Clone Wars series and overall, he is an amazing character with way more to give fans on the big screen.

A Windu story can take place around the prequels and can be centered around a certain mission to take out a specific villain or to foil Sith plans that would prove to be deadly for the Republic. A Windu series would not have to be centered around a huge event but rather just give us more insight into the character and demonstrate how powerful of a Jedi he was through whatever story they decide to tell.

The Purple Lightsaber wielding Mace Windu is one of the most iconic Jedi in Star Wars so it is only right that he deserves a spin-off series where he gets to be the major focus of the show.

3. Count Dooku

Count Dooku was one of the best Sith in Star Wars as he appeared in Episode II and Episode III. Dooku, who is also known as Darth Tyranus, was a menacing villain and the apprentice of Darth Sidious. He is an expert duelist with his iconic curved lightsaber handle and is very strong with the force. Count Dooku can be a great main character as he was another fan favorite in the movies and later in the Clone Wars series.

I think a Count Dooku series could focus on his time in the Jedi order as he began to lose trust and venture towards the dark side. The series could touch more on his Jedi training under Yoda and his training of Qui-Gon Jinn which would give fans more screen time with other beloved characters. A series could also follow Count Dooku when he had turned to the dark side to become the apprentice of Darth Sidious and it could show how he gained so much power and control of the Separatist movement.

Count Dooku deserves his own series as he has plenty of background left to share and because he holds the distinction of being a legendary Jedi and Sith.

4. Darth Vader

Darth Vader’s character arc from Anakin Skywalker to Darth Vader and back to Skywalker is one of the best in cinema. Vader was a powerful Sith that was universally feared due to his vicious nature to get what he wanted at all costs. Along with his great portrayal in the Star Wars saga, Darth Vader continues to steal the show whenever he is on screen, whether it is in Rogue One or in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series.

People can watch the Star Wars Saga and understand the complex character of Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader and his battle with good vs evil. However, what I think Disney+ should do is make a series off of Darth Vader around Episode IV when he was the biggest villain in the galaxy. They should truly show the extent of Darth Vader’s power as tears through the galaxy with a variety of lightsaber fights and extreme feats of strength.

A Darth Vader series like this would only make the other movies better because it would display how powerful and terrifying Darth Vader was while showing how huge of a change he made to turn back to the light side because of Luke Skywalker.

5. Finn

Stormtrooper FN-2187, who would later go on to be known as Finn, was a First Order stormtrooper that deserted his unit and joined the fight against the First Order. He found Rey and commander Poe Dameron and together this trio became integral for saving the galaxy. Finn was a fantastic character in the sequels and was integral in the defeat of the First Order and Darth Sidious.

I think a Finn series should center around him being Force-sensitive. The story could delve into him learning about the Force and practicing with it. In the Star Wars sequels, he displayed a small amount of his Force-sensitive abilities so I think it would be fun to dive deeper into what he is capable of as a Force user.

Finn was a great character in the sequels, but he has a lot more story that needs to be told. It would be fun to see him in action in more battles while on his path of training and learning about being Force sensitive.

Ultimately, Star Wars is a timeless franchise that has brought joy to multiple generations of people. The Obi-Wan Kenobi series was another example of how the Star Wars universe can continue to grow and entertain audiences. These were my five ideas for five Star Wars characters that deserve their own similar Obi-Wan Kenobi spin-off series.
