Five-Star True Freshman Micah Hudson To Enter Transfer Portal

Texas Tech managed to land a five-star recruit last off-season in the form of wide receiver Micah Hudson. Expectations were sky-high for Hudson, as the 6-foot, 195 lb playmaker was expected to make a seamless transition from High School to College. However, Hudson never really got his legs under him this season, failing to carve out a significant role in this Red Raiders offense. Now, he will be entering the transfer portal, and is expected to receive a significant amount of interest.

Micah Hudson was originally recruited heavily by both Texas and Texas A&M among a bounty of other schools before landing on Texas Tech. It would be safe to assume those schools will show interest again, but I believe that every single big-time program will be calling Hudson’s phone and pitching their school to him. 247Sports does a good job with high school recruiting, and here was their report his senior year:

“Dynamic, high-volume playmaker who can play outside or from the slot. Lean, athletic build with sneaky sinewy strength. Highly productive high school receiver who’s also provided big-play punch at running back and in the return game. Vertical field stretcher with very good initial burst that also aids in run-after-catch threat. Mid-air acrobat. Capable of contorting in traffic to win contested throws. Strong with the ball. Will provide periodic highlight grabs thanks to dexterity, hand strength, and adjustment nuance. Slippery strong after the catch. Dangerous cutback threat who can string together moves to befuddle tacklers well downfield. Capable of elevating, snagging, landing, and exploding into full acceleration with little wasted motion.

Micah Hudson should have no problem integrating his play style into a new offense; it is just a matter of whether the school he chooses to attend will actually use his talents on the field. Georgia, Texas, Michigan, Clemson all have a huge need for a top-flight wide receiver, and Hudson could fill that role immediately.
