Fantasy Hockey: Flyers Acquire Trevor Zegras
It’s officially official. Trevor Zegras has actually been traded, and he’s on his way to the Philadelphia Flyers. When it comes to fantasy hockey, or any other type of fantasy, we can only manage with the cards we’re dealt. Let’s jump into all of it and get into the fantasy angles of this deal!
It’s still TBD on the line combinations. Will they plug him in at second or third line center? Are we looking at more of a winger role? Until that gets solved, it’s hard to really put a projection here. Here’s the problem. There are no elite centers on this team. They may as Zegras to carry a line, and if that happens, he may not be that valuable in fantasy. If he’s on a top powerplay until with Michkov and Konency, maybe there’s some value here.
If you’re ranking the Flyers’ wingers in fantasy, you’re definitely going with both of those guys I previously mentioned, and also Owen Tippett, before you’re touching Zegras.
Zegras, 24, posted a career high 65 points two years ago and hasn’t come close to that number since. Mostly because of missing so many games being out of the lineup. If he’s back in the lineup full time, maybe 70 points is doable on the high end?
Zegras is definitely worth a dart throw in fantasy, but there’s no reason to reach. Probably should be picked somewhere in the 150 or so overall range? Won’t carry you, but there could be some hidden upside to watch for.
