Dear Fantasy Football,
Oh, how I’ve missed you. I’ve missed the start/sits. I’ve missed the unnecessary weekly rankings. I’ve missed Joe Mixon proving the haters wrong. And I’ve missed the intense highs and lows that come with this game I love so dearly.
Except to me, you’re not just a game. Fantasy Football, you are a way of life, and more specifically you are the love of my life. You’re always there for me. Maybe not for two-thirds of the year I guess, but we’ll let that slide.
Even if you let me down sometimes Fantasy Football, at least I know there’s always another week to win, another league to win, and another season to plan towards. And when you pull me up, it’s a feeling like no other. The ecstasy I get from a simple seven-yard screen play to my running back is incomparable — in PPR Leagues at least. The joy I get from my quarterback rushing for 27 yards is one that I’m not sure anything else can give me. And don’t even get me started on if I have a QB/WR stack on the same team and they score a touchdown together.
I can’t wait to get burned by benching the guy who goes off for 30 points. I’m hyped to be in trade talks for hours that end up amounting to a whole lot of nothing. I really just need that feeling of losing because my opponent’s kicker and defense went off. Good or bad, I want it all from you Fantasy Football.
Basically, what I’m saying is, I’ve just missed you a lot and I’m really glad you’re back. Mondays, Thursdays, and Sundays aren’t the same without having freak athletes’ random performances dictate my mental health for the day. Tuesdays and Wednesdays aren’t the same when I don’t have waiver wire claims to pound the desk over. And Saturdays are most definitely not the same when I don’t have “(Q)” to stress out about and videos with doctors explaining sports injuries to watch.
I’m glad tonight is the night you are finally in action, Fantasy Football. I’ve spent months and months of research preparing some great lineups just for this time of year. I hope this season lives up to everything I’ve dreamt it to be. And if not, well I guess I’ll just miss you until next year.
Love you,
Aarav Raina
P.S.
Fantasy Football, you are the G.O.A.T for helping me get a 5 on the AP English Language and Composition Test. Couldn’t have done it without you. Like FOR REAL. Check it out if you don’t believe me.
