Fantasy Football: Keenan Allen Traded To Bears
Keenan Allen was traded to the Bears. The good news is at least his beard is built for the Chicago weather. Will his fantasy football value stand the test of time post trade? That’s the real question and we’re here to talk about it.
Allen, 31, just had an unbelievable year on what ended up being a bad Chargers team. The former Cal product went for 1,243 yards and seven touchdowns. I’m just worried that 2024 will be a season to forget. Allen has been doing this every-other-year thing for a while now. His 2020 and 2022 seasons were underwhelming fantasy wise. We’re now in another even year. Maybe that’s dumb to think about but this happens with players.
A lot of this is uncertainty with the Bears. How do you trust them? They still haven’t made an official decision on the quarterback and we’re well past free agency. It’s not like we have an elite coaching staff in place. We either have a rookie quarterback with a shaky line or a veteran quarterback who hasn’t proven anything. Are there enough balls to go around with DJ Moore putting together a quality season last year?
If you’re looking for reasons to be optimistic, Allen is in a contract year. All he really needs to do is stay motivated and talented enough so that he can cash in one more time next year. I would guess that’s something he wants.
Allen finished as WR11 last year. I’m sure he won’t be ranked that high heading into this year. I don’t mind taking a shot on Allen if he falls in your lap but I’m not getting into a bidding war here. Buying Bears stock is a scary thing until proven otherwise. There are just a lot of reliable receivers out there so don’t overspend on something you can probably find a reasonable alternative to.
