Uh oh… do we have competition for Anthony Richardson? This is going to be a fun one to chat about… Sooooo Daniel Jones signed with the Colts and we have fantasy football implications to talk about!
Let’s just start here because every other part of this conversation is irrelevant. If you have balls and play in a deep Superflex league, you can’t just invest in one of the Colts’ QBs and skip out on the other. If you spent money on Anthony Richardson during the auction, you also have to go get Daniel Jones. I’m not sure how to say it any other way.
If you’re someone who doesn’t have balls and plays in a loser one QB league, you’re not worth my time and it’s maybe time to reevaluate why you play fantasy like a five-year-old.
Based on the way Richardson played last year, you can’t proceed as if he’s going to start every single game for the Colts. That would be a foolish approach. If Richardson can get benched in favor of 40-year-old Joe Flacco, he sure can for 27-year-old Jones.
At the end of the day, I’m just not sure how excited you can be about this situation. Michael Pittman, AD Mitchell, and Josh Downs. Does that get anybody excited? There’s no gamebreaker at tight end. Given the injury history of Jones, we know he needs to run to even be productive. We’re talking about a guy who threw ten passing touchdowns in his last 16 starts. That’s just painfully bad.
If Jones is free and you need a quarterback for Superflex, feel free. Beyond that, this is probably one of the worst QB situations in the league to invest in. It’s messy from a who will start scenario and it’s messy from a the Colts stink scenario too. Outside of Jonathan Taylor, I can’t imagine anyone on this Colts team gets you excited for fantasy.
