Josh Allen has a new shiny target in the form of Amari Cooper. Now that the Bills have landed Cooper via trade, let’s go over everything you need to know from a fantasy football angle. Before I begin, we also did the fantasy angle for the Davante Adams trade which you can find here!
Maybe I’m in the minority here, but I think Cooper is going to make a big impact in Buffalo. He’s the clear number one. Just think about the other weapons on the team.
It’s Keon Coleman, who is a rookie and not ready to be that guy yet. It’s a couple of slot guys in Curtis Samuel and Khalil Shakir who take a bunch of the underneath routes. Hell Mack Hollins already has two touchdowns through six games. If Cooper actually finds a rhythm with Josh Allen…
Cooper, 30, finished last season as WR16 in fantasy. He’s off to a shaky start this year but who isn’t in that Cleveland offense with the way Deshaun Watson is playing? Allen has finished as QB1 in three of the last four seasons. This is an offense that’s going to move the ball and plenty of touchdown opportunities will be there. I don’t see why Cooper can’t be a top 15-20 option the rest of the way in fantasy with this new landing spot.
Cooper’s stock in fantasy obviously goes up. It’s a matter of how much and how should owners proceed from here. It’s hard to say given that every league has different rules but if you’re a win-now team, giving up something to get Cooper sure isn’t a bad idea. Being in the Bills offense is a great place to be and Cooper should have motivation in order to secure another future pay day.
