ESPN Fires Rob Ninkovich

The ESPN layoffs are coming and they’re not close to being done. ESPN has to figure out a way to pay for the new Pat McAfee Show and a lot of personalties are going to be cut in order to afford it. One of the names being axed by ESPN is former New England Patriots linebacker, Rob Ninkovich. The two time Super Bowl champion will not have his contract renewed by ESPN.

“Rob Ninkovich is leaving ESPN, sources tell Front Office Sports.”

“The NFL analyst’s contract won’t be renewed after it expires this summer, said sources. ESPN declined to comment.”

“The two-time Super Bowl winner with Tom Brady and Bill Belichick’s New England Patriots joined ESPN in 2019. Since then, the 11-year NFL veteran and former Pats co-captain has been featured on studio shows such as “NFL Live,” “Get Up” and “SportsCenter.”

As you can see in the embed above, Neil Everett was one of the recent cuts. The other thus far that we know of is Chris Chelios on the NHL side. Based on the reporting that’s been done, it sounds like we have way more coming.

Ninkovich, 39, spent 11 years in the NFL after debuting with the Saints in 2006. The former 5th round pick out of Purdue also spent two seasons in Miami prior to joining the Patriots. Ninkovich spent the bulk of career in New England spending eight years there.

Throughout his NFL career, Ninkovich recorded a total of 460 tackles, 46 sacks, 12 forced fumbles, and 14 fumble recoveries.
