We’re now up to 15. Nick Friedell becomes the latest victim of ESPN’s firing spree. Friedell was a major part of the NBA coverage over at ESPN. Friedell is now gone and has been let go. During the midst of NBA free agency, the timing on this has to sting for Friedell.
Front Office Sports was the first to report the news:
Sadly, you can add NBA Reporter @NickFriedell to the growing list of ESPN layoffs today, said sources. @FOS has confirmed the names of 15 out of 20 on-air talents let go Friday on the roughest day for ESPN talent in years.https://t.co/vDklGFMrGV

Friedell has been with ESPN since 2009. Friedell was actually on TV earlier today too talking about James Harden. A James Harden joke may have went wrong and it cost Friedell his job? Probably not, but the timing on it is crazy. ESPN is literally pulling people straight from the studio. It’s getting UGLY.
Fridell, 39, was a founding member of the ESPNChicago.com. Friedell began his career covering the Bulls but ESPN later shifted him to covering the Warriors. Friedell relocated to the Bay Area prior to the 2018-2019 NBA season. Company man did all that just to lose his job just a few years later.
As I’m watching NBA free agency, it looks like ESPN already found their reporter to replace Friedell’s coverage on the Warriors. Kendra Andrews, the sister of Malika, is now taking over Friedell’s job.
Other NBA personalities to get the ax include Vince Carter, Jalen Rose, and Jeff Van Gundy. Richard Jefferson, Kendrick Perkins, and JJ Redick appear to be the only NBA names that are totally safe from being let go.
We got at least five more names to go! Keep the hits coming ESPN!
