ESPN Creates NHL Red Zone Style Broadcast Called ‘Frozen Frenzy’

Someone actually listened to me! I can’t believe it. I don’t even want the credit. I’m just happy that the idea is actually coming to life. After clamoring for a red zone style broadcast in the NHL for years, the idea is actually happening. ESPN is creating an NHL red zone that will be called Frozen Frenzy. The broadcast will be hosted by John Buccigross.

Front Office Sports was the first to report the news:

Words can’t properly describe how I feel. I’m so happy about this news. I’m sure it won’t happen every night but on nights where all the teams are in action, this is a must. It’s just so hard tracking what’s going on when so many teams are on at the same time.

Credit to the NHL and ESPN. I didn’t think they had this idea in them. The NHL has been blasted in the past for poorly marketing their sport. I can promise you this idea will help the game grow. Especially when the casual fans understand how electric 3-on-3 overtime is. To have a collection of goals and mega hits to watch every night. It’s a stroke of genius by the league and ESPN.

Let’s hear from you in the comments section. Are you excited about the Frozen Frenzy? Is this something you will watch or do you think ESPN will find a way to screw this up. I’m excited and I’m not sure you can screw it up. Buccigross will do a good job hosting it. The NHL is so back!
