ESPN is making a major shift to its on-air TV programming. After a 23-year run, ESPN is canceling Around the Horn. During the Summer of 2025, the show will cease to exist. At least on ESPN that is.
The news was first reported by the NY Post:
“ESPN plans to hit the mute button on “Around the Horn.”
“The show’s legendary run of more than two decades will conclude in the summer of 2025, sources told The Post.”
“The Post previously reported that the show’s cancellation was under consideration by company brass.”
A few thoughts from Trey before we close things out here:
A: Are people actually sad about this news? I couldn’t tell you the last time I actually watched this show. Has to be at least ten years and probably more. Please comment if you’re actually sad about this news because I genuinely don’t know who watches this anymore. I remember tuning is as a kid when it first came out but that’s about it.
B: ESPN says they have no plan on what will replace Around the Horn. Which seems weird that you would cancel a show without a replacement in mind, but we shouldn’t be surprised because ESPN clearly lacks leadership and direction. Soooo yeah, no word on what will actually replace ATH during that time slot.
C: Is Pardon The Interruption next because there is no way anyone still watches that show. I refuse to believe it. I’d imagine more changes are coming next year considering they are still firing people left and right.
