I have to say, I’m not the biggest fan of the Sherlock Holmes series. BUT… there is just something about Enola Holmes that takes it up a notch. Maybe it’s because Sherlock isn’t the star of the show and he comes in when necessary. Maybe it’s because Enola is always getting herself into trouble. Regardless, it’s time for a review on whether this is a movie you should spend your time watching.
Look, it’s not a perfect movie. These movies have a ceiling on it. It doesn’t matter what script you put out for Enola Holmes. You’re never going to hit it 100% out of the park. Mostly because it’s always the same stuff. An interesting case comes her way, twists and turns happen, boom case is solved but in a way you didn’t expect. Enola Holmes 2 did exactly what it was asked.
I think I’m giving this movie a B+ for that very reason. It even had a historical point to get across improving work habits for women. Overall really good movie that has an underlying love story? What more can you ask for?
Give me this movie over getting invested in She-Hulk. That was a mistake. This movie is short, to the point, and gives you a great laugh. What more do you want?
For those fans who want a third movie, you’re probably in luck. While Netflix hasn’t confirmed a next movie yet, based on the books it’s inspired by, you can probably bank on getting another in the future. Enola Holmes is a star and it simply cannot end like this!
