Giants quarterback Eli Manning thinks highly of his back up quarterback, Ryan Nassib. Entering the final year of his rookie contract Ryan Nassib is entering a very important preseason. Nassib, 26, could cash in with a bigger deal elsewhere if he shines during the 2016 preseason. Nevertheless, incumbent starter Eli Manning is happy to have Nassib on his side.

“Just from watching [Nassib] and how he prepares, how he makes plays in practice, his football mind and ability, there’s no reason he can’t be a starter,” Giants starting quarterback Eli Manning told NJ.com this week.

A fourth round pick in 2013 Ryan Nassib has showed promise thus far. Then again he will likely have to leave next season if he plans on getting a starting opportunity. Eli of course has not missed a start since 2005.

“It’s something you can’t really think about,” Nassib said of potentially being a starter. “When the time comes, all I have to do is make sure I’m ready for it. It’s something if I take care of in the meeting room and on the field, all that stuff will work out.”

Nassib’s brother Carl was recently drafted by the Cleveland Browns in this years draft. Carl Nassib was one of my sleeper picks in this draft before Cleveland unfortunately selected him and will convert him into a 3-4 linebacker, a position he shouldn’t be playing.
