After the Cincinnati Bengals absolutely dominated the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Divisional this weekend, Eli Apple was in a trolling mood.
The Twitter bombardment started innocently enough. Apple retweeted plenty of harmless tweets in relation to the Bengals victory, including a video posted by his mom. The first few shots of many, came right at Stefon Diggs. Well, and his brother Trevon who caught a stray for a reason I’m not sure.
Apple retweeted these three tweets in very quick succession. It didn’t take the man long to get really busy on the timeline.
Apple’s focus soon turned to Josh Allen.
Genuinely wild stuff, man. I don’t think I’ve ever seen this level of outspoken disrespect from a professional athlete and to have it coming from none other than Apple, who’s never even been to the Pro Bowl, forget an All-Pro selection, is crazy.
I’m not going to pretend like it isn’t entertaining, though. This is a legitimate NFL athlete who went home and looked at all of our stupid memes so he could see which ones to retweet.
The absolute peak of the barrage had to be when he started poking fun at the Allen-Diggs relationship after the wideout’s evident frustration on the sideline of the game.
Hats off to the person who edited this video, too. Just absolutely phenomenal work and Apple made sure to give him his flowers with a retweet.
The one that stirred up some real controversy was his comparison of Diggs to another certain star wide receiver.
With some more absolutely generational quote tweets, Apple finally concluded his night.
For some added context about this last one, Apple is making the “crying” face with his hands after Diggs. With his quote tweet, he is continuing to flex and celebrate his machoism compared to Diggs’ “softness,” I guess.
Folks, we just witnessed an absolute masterclass in the art of Twitter trolling by none other than Eli Apple. He may not be a special NFL corner, but he’s sure proved his worth as a truly generational troll after going off on Stefon Diggs, Josh Allen, and even Terrell Owens. Hats off to him and until next time, Eli!
